Celebration !!!  I am honored and privileged to be serving as the 2009 GRA President because the Georgia Rehabilitation Association will celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year.  It is also a privilege to work with our GRA Family, and we certainly are family.  I have been a member of GRA since my first week of employment in 1997.  My first assignment was volunteering to stuff bags at the Jekyll Island Conference in 1998 and since then I have looked forward to our annual Conference each year with great anticipation.

In January 2009 we will, as we have in the past, be meeting in Atlanta at the GRA Legislative Seminar to network with our Legislators to advocate for the cause of our consumers.

In March GRA will head to Washington, DC to the National Rehabilitation Association Affairs Seminar to once again meet with our national Legislators on behalf of our consumers.

Then May 26-30 will mark the dates for the 2009 SERNRA/GRA Conference in Savannah, Ga. where we will provide training and networking for all our members and representatives from all of the Southeast.  I would encourage all GRA members to attend this historic Conference as it marks 50 years of GRA advocacy for persons with disabilities.

If you are a member or a new member of GRA I truly encourage you to become more involved in you local chapter of GRA and consider more involvement in the State meetings. We surely have a place you can serve and become active in the workings of our great GRA Family. If you are not a member please find someone in your office or contact me and we will assist you in becoming part of the GRA Family.

Thanks,
Joe Siman, Jr.
